Additional services to complement your maintenance program

Beyond our planned maintenance program, we offer a range of specialized services to extend the life of your equipment and protect your bottom line. Our expert technical field staff are professionally trained to provide top-quality service.

Complete battery cleaning

Our team can perform a complete pressure wash of batteries removed from the forklift using a self-contained portable washing station. This service is performed offsite unless you have the required facilities. We neutralize corrosion and acid buildup to prevent batteries from discharging when not in use, while also protecting partition walls, connectors, and cables from damage. When a battery cannot be removed or when the total battery quantity is five or less, a hand wash will be performed instead.

Battery cleaning: Protect your forklifts from corrosion and failure

Acid buildup can do more than just make your forklift batteries look bad; it's a dangerous issue that can discharge batteries, corrode vital components, and even cause significant damage to your equipment. Ignoring this problem can lead to expensive repairs and shorten battery life. Learn why professional cleaning is a crucial part of your maintenance plan.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

A forklift battery is an electrochemical device that stores DC power for use in a forklift. It also acts as part of the forklift’s counterbalance.
Check and adjust water to the proper levels only after the battery has received a full charge. Accessories such as automatic watering systems are also available to make this process easier.
This indicates water levels in the battery: Green = Adequate. Red = Water is required. Water levels should be checked and adjusted as necessary.
Typically, every 90 days, or every 60 days in extreme conditions. This depends on equipment usage and the surrounding applications.
As needed, without overcharging. Fast charge whenever the truck is not in use. Conventional charge daily for normal use. 2-3 times weekly for light applications.
This is used to record battery charging activity and usage. Information includes: i) Daily state of charge ii) Weekly EQ cycles iii) Daily connections iv) Daily usage (EBU) v) Operating temperatures

Common forklift battery and charger terms

Battery lifespan will vary depending on usage and the conditions which it is used in.
When a battery is under capacity, or undersized, for the forklift truck/workload this will cause the forklift truck to underperform its duties. Can also relate to the battery’s ability to hold a charge – low capacity = low ability to hold a charge, which results in shortened run times.
Each battery is made from a group of cells that all work together to store the energy so it’s ready for use when the demand from the lift truck is needed. If one or more cells fail, this will cause low voltage, which in turn will impair the forklift trucks performance.
If a battery charger is underrated for the battery, it is not capable of delivering enough charge back into the battery during a regular charging cycle – if this is the case, the battery will begin to sulphate, and its capacity will continue to decline.
Faulty connector(s) can cause poor connections between the battery charger and/or forklift truck which is a safety issue as significant current travels between each piece of equipment.
Industrial batteries require proper, regular interval maintenance to be done to avoid the accumulation of acid corrosion on/near the battery terminals along the top of the battery – corrosion occurs when batteries are overwatered and pushed out during the charging process. When the electrolyte (acid) comes into contact with metals (links, trays etc.) it will begin to corrode and create the corrosion.
When a battery charger is not putting out enough amperage to charge the battery, it will not allow the battery to properly charge to capacity.
Most industrial battery chargers include an equalize setting which allows all of the battery cells to fully recharge to a consistent voltage. This process typically is done approximately every 5 cycles or every Friday. Equalizing batteries is very important for the overall health of the battery.
